Cats are one of the best pets you can keep in your home, but the smell of their urine is not pleasant at all. Cat pee can end up having a very pungent smell, especially when it dries up and when it takes a long time to wipe it off.
If you use your dryer to dry up something like clothes that had cat pee on them, the dryer will end up smelling cat pee.
Your cat can also pee in the dryer. Now, everything you dry up in the dryer will have a smell of the cat’s urine.
For this reason, it is necessary to find a solution on how to eliminate cat pee out of the dryer. The products you can use to eliminate cat pee are within your reach.
You might have these products in your home, or they are easy to afford since they are cheap. These products include;
- White vinegar or apple cider vinegar and water
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Baking soda
- Oduor removal spray or pet stain
The following are the steps to follow to get the cat pee smell out of the dryer;
Step 1: Soak Up The Cat Pee Quickly
First, take a towel and soak it on the cat pee if it is in the case where the cat has peed inside the dryer. Remove as much pee as possible.
It is important to remove the pee immediately after finding it to avoid staining the dryer, which will be hard to remove after it dries.
The more the pee sits on something for a long time, the more stubborn the stains will be. Removal of excess urine will also reduce the concentration of the smell of urine in the dryer.
Step 2: Wipe Out The Dryer
The second step is to take a towel that is dampened with hydrogen peroxide and wipe out the inside of the dryer. Give the dryer time to dry up to the touch.
Hydrogen peroxide products work effectively on cats’ pee odours and stains too. The work of hydrogen peroxide is to aid in destroying the bacteria that causes the odour.
Step 3: Make This Solution
The next step is to take another towel and soak it in a solution of water and white vinegar. The amount you should use for each is a half-gallon of water and one cup of vinegar.
The essence of mixing white vinegar with water is to dilute the white vinegar since it is acidic.
Another option to consider apart from white vinegar is apple cider vinegar. Twist the towel to squeeze and remove the excess solution of white vinegar and water out.
Step 4: Dry On High Heat
The next step to follow is to put this towel in the dryer and dry it with a high heat set up for about 45 minutes. The importance of this step is to sanitise the dryer and start removing the odour.
It has been found that vinegar is a powerful product that helps in removing the pungent smell of cat urine. This is because it is acidic; therefore, it will help neutralise the bacteria in the cat’s urine, releasing its odour.
Step 5: Scent The Dryer With Odour Remover
The other step is to take another towel and thoroughly spray it with an odour remover or a pet stain remover until it gets lightly dampened.
Put the towel into the dryer and allow it to dry for about 20-25 minutes in a non-heat setting.
Spray the towel again with the odour remover spray and continue to dry it for another additional 20 to 25 minutes. This will ensure the elimination of the remaining cat urine odour from your dryer.

The last thing you should do is sniff the inside of your dryer to check if the smell is completely gone. If there is some odour left, then the smell is left in the most inside parts of the dryer.
It is not easy to clean up these interior parts yourself. Therefore, you have to consult your dryer manual to give you information on how to go about eliminating the remaining smell because every dryer is made differently.
Use Baking Soda To Get Cat Pee Smell Out The Dryer
Using baking soda is another option to consider. Baking soda has excellent properties that help deodorise the smell of cat pee. It has sodium bicarbonate which is good for soaking up odours.
It works by sprinkling the baking soda around the dryer and leaving it for about 20-30 minutes. Use a suctioning vacuum to remove the baking soda. This will help dilute or remove the cat pee smell from the dryer.
