So you’re probably thinking why does your cat only cuddle at night?
Here are few reasons why your cat loves to snuggle with you only at night
- Warmth – You’re their human heater (You can add that to your resume)
- Safety – Cats need to feel safe and secure especially when they’ve gone to sleep and sleeping next to you makes them feel safe
- Your cat loves you – Cats may not show it much but when your cat snuggle with you it means they showing their appreciation
These 3 reasons are pretty much why your cat only cuddles when you’re sleeping

How To Get Your Cat To Cuddle With You During The Day
Cuddling with your cat at night is cute
The problem is your furbaby won’t cuddle with you during the day
I get it,
You’ve just come back from a hard days work and you want to cuddle with your cat
Or maybe you’re going through some tough times and cuddling with your cat makes it easier for you
After all, they do help us when we are stressed and calm us down
So let’s look at how you can get your cat to cuddle with you more during the day
Keep Up With The Basics
Before going on technical and different methods
Let’s look at just the basics for your cat
Give your cat the highest quality of food with good nutrients
Make sure your cat has plenty of fresh water (although they may not drink it, it’s a good idea to have it available for them)
Is the litter box cleaned regularly? Make sure it is and if you’re a lazy person like me or you may not just have the time then I’d recommend investing in a automatic self cleaning litter box
(Check out my review of Litter Robot 3)
Do you give your cat the occasional treats
I know these are basics but sometimes it’s just looking at the basics that can help make your cat more cuddly
Consider The Age Of Your Cat
Some cats may not be cuddly during their early years
But as they get older they become more affectionate
My cat for example, first he was not cuddly at all
Never used to sit on my lap or sleep beside me
Now he is getting older, he looks for every opportunity to sleep on my lap!
I know you want your cat to become cuddly straight away but some cats are different
That doesn’t mean you can’t make them cuddly
Spend Time With Your Cat
Spending time with your cat can really help increase the bond between the two of you
You should set out some time during the day to spend time with your furbaby – just the two of you, no distraction
Just sit with your cat
Talk to your cat too!- they understand more than we think
It actually helps too (I’m not afraid to say I would talk to my cat)
Here’s an article I wrote on How to talk to your cat
When you see your cat just sitting there, go sit next her and pet her
Don’t go overboard because cats like to be petted for a certain amount of time!
You could even try to get your cat to sit on your lap and see how she responds
Play With Your Cat
Cats are natural predators
They have a lot of energy that needs to be released
Set out some time to play with your cat
If you want a good night sleep then right before you go bed
Maybe an hour or so
This will help release their energy and make them feel tired
Or you could even play with your cat during the day
This playing time will surely be appreciated by your furbaby
When she gets tired, try putting her on your lap and see if she stays
Don’t force it though – if she doesn’t like it try again on another day
Slow and patience are key

Give Your Cat Treats
Cats lurrrves treats!
Well my Tigger does and you know what he does
He will go to where I keep the treats and then he’ll look at me and squint his eyes at me
And then he’ll meow and purr at the same time
Boy, that gets to me – it’s hard to say no to that!
Or he’ll rub against the side of the cupboard
Meowing and purring at the same time
He’s such a clever kitty for sure!
But yes, give your cat treats – they love it and it makes them happy right
What you could do is, put your cat in your lap and then give your cat a treat
That way you’re showing your cat every time she sits on your lap it’s good

Time And Patience
It will take time
Don’t expect your cat to just cuddle with you during the day overnight
It can take time
So you do need to have patience
But trust me, it will pay off when your cat starts to cuddle with you during the day
Especially if you’re going through a tough time – your cat will help relieve that stress
Just try not to force your cat as this will just give out negative vibes and will resist cuddling with you
Why Your Cat Only Cuddles At Night And Never Cuddles In The Daytime
Cats love to cuddle at night because of different reasons
It could be the warmth your body gives out that keeps your cat warm (even though they have fur!)
It’s a mean of safety for your cat to close their eyes and relax knowing you’re beside them
After all they are predators and they always need to be on their guard so take it as a compliment knowing they trust you so much that they can sleep with you – it’s when they are most vulnerable
Your cat just loves you! That puts a smile to your face right?
It’s their way of showing affection towards you
(Who says cats don’t show affection!)
