What Temperature Will Kill a Cat?
In regards to the winter
When the temperature dips below freezing then this can be dangerous for your cat
What temperature is below freezing?
How You Can Make Sure Your Cat Stays Warm
During the winter season as we are approaching
Make sure your cat stays indoors as much as possible
You don’t want your furbaby to wander around in the cold weather
Yes, they can survive the cold as they have fur and their body temperature is much warmer than ours
But when it gets too cold and your cat has nowhere to go
Then it could be a problem
Why?
Because if it’s in the middle of the night and you don’t have a cat flap for your cat to get in then your cat will look for other places for shelter
And one place your cat may seek shelter is in a car and that is dangerous
Or another thing that could happen is your cat has nowhere to go
And it’s freezing during the night
Chances are your cat could get sick
Last thing you want is your kitty to get frostbite because as I mentioned earlier it can lead to death
So the best thing you could do is keep your cat indoors as much as possible
That way you know your cat is safe and kept warm
Be careful when you switch the heating on
Why?

How Cold Can a Cat Tolerate
According to Dr. M.A. Crist who is a clinical assistant professor at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. says
An indoor cat that is not used to the outside cold weather should not be left outside when the temperature is below 45 degrees Fahrenheit
Even if it’s an outdoor cat that is used to the cold weather
They should have some sort of shelter or cat bed that can keep them warm
If your cat is an outdoor cat then do try and keep your cat indoors
If this is not possible then make sure there is a cat house or a cat bed that is well insulated for your cat to curl up and preserve some body heat
Ideally you’d want your cat to be indoors but I guess some cats just love the outdoors
Always make sure there is fresh water available too
Wrapping It Up
When the temperature drops below freezing then there is a chance it can lead to death for a cat
